One-to-one ground instruction

Most of the time, a flight simulator is used as a classroom aid.
Lessons are delivered to one or maximum two learners at a time, or families of up to three members, also at a time.

Modes of instruction:
– F2F, on-site
– F2F at Chuck’s home office, next to the UCLA campus
– Video conference via zoom

The cost of a program is determined by its duration, at established hourly rates.

*The rates are one-on-one.
**The rates are calculated as pay-ahead rates, which means maintaining an account balance of $ 300 or more.

Either by sharing a Ground School program (FSE or CS) with a friend
Or by sharing a complete Ground School program (CS only) with two other family members

Specific purpose instruction

    * Duration will be determined individually for each case.

Introduction to Aviation

If you’re considering dipping your toes into aviation.

The course provides an overview of the fundamentals of flying in the Los Angeles / SoCal Area, helping learners decide whether pursuing a pilot’s license is the right path for them.

Investment: $ 64o – This is a special bundle rate.

The course includes:

  • 16 hrs of ground school training on relevant aviation topics.
  • Three flights, each with a duration of about 2 hrs in a proficiency flight simulator only.

* normal rates will apply to any additional ground/simulator training.
** Cost of the discovery flight not included. It will vary on the plane to be used, and airport to be departed from. See Flight Instruction for alternatives.

Ground School complete programs

Guarantee: If any learner from these programs does not pass their FAA knowledge test, they will receive 15 hours of free instruction in the same modality they initially took the program (Face2face / zoom).
Incentive: If a learner achieves a score of 100% on their FAA knowledge test, I will celebrate their success with a $100 gift.

Two primary modes of instruction to better suit your time availability, study habits and needs:

Flight School Express (FSE) programs

Program Duration:

Private Pilot

15 hrs

Instrument Rating

25 hrs

Commercial Pilot

40 hrs

CFI / CFI-I / MEI / ATP

As required

* Times are for reference only and rely on the learner’s progress

The FSE Mode addresses the shorter-duration programs often quoted by flight schools. These estimates are for reference only, as the actual duration depends on how much self-study learners commit to their goals. This mode of instruction is ideal for those seeking to refresh their knowledge, as well as new learners who are self-motivated, can keep up with fast-paced instruction, and require minimal guidance in navigating FAA handbooks and related free materials and publications.

Minimum booking per session:
One 90-minute lesson

Minimum weekly commitment:
Book at least 3 hours per week with the instructor, that is 2 sessions.
Devote at least 3 hours of self-study for each hour of instruction

Flight school learners often complement this modality with online ground school programs offered by industry-recognized publishers. I can recommend a few in our first session and help you find the one that best fits your study habits and expectations.

Complete Syllabus (CS) programs

Everything you learn while pursuing your Private Pilot Certificate will be essential when working toward your Commercial Pilot Certificate.
Moreover, being familiar with the CPL ground knowledge will help you make the most of your first flight hours, making your training cost-effective and more enjoyable.

Program Duration:

Recreational / Private Pilot / Commercial Pilot

60 hrs

Instrument Rating

25 hrs

* Times are for reference only and rely on the learner’s progress
** Syllabii by other Aviation Materials Suppliers are also available according to the learner’s needs

In this mode of instruction, I prefer to begin by presenting the learner with various ground school programs, allowing them to make an informed choice about which one best motivates them. Once they’ve selected a program, we can follow it together.

Major aviation publishers have developed program syllabi and created study materials to walk the learners along the educational path they’ve outlined. These materials, unlike the FAA publications, have a cost which will be covered by the student.

Another advantage of the CS mode is that I integrate as much Commercial Pilot knowledge as possible into the Private Pilot syllabus. The same topics are covered in greater depth, but in a way that is still easy for the private pilot applicant to understand. This approach not only enhances the efficiency of ground school training but also provides valuable knowledge that will help the applicant achieve better results during their flight time from the start of their Private Pilot flight training.

Minimum booking per session:
Either one 120-minute lesson with a 5-minute break half time
OR two 90-minute lessons with a 10-minute break in between

Minimum weekly commitment:
Book at least 4 hours per week with the instructor, that is 2 sessions.
Devote at least 1.5 hours of self-study for each hour of instruction
